More about Dr. Hammam Yahya

Assistant Professor of Psychiatry, University of New Mexico

Dr. Hammam Yahya is an Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at the University of New Mexico (UNM). He received his Medical Doctor (M.D.) degree from the University of Jordan School of Medicine in 2010. He worked with Doctors Without Borders (MSF) in Amman, Jordan, between 2013 and 2014 before moving to the United States. Dr. Yahya finished his psychiatry residency training at the University of New Mexico (UNM) in 2018. He, then, joined the school of medicine faculty at UNM in 2018. He currently serves as the Associate Training Director of the General Psychiatry Residency Program at UNM. He is also an inpatient attending physician at the UNM Psychiatric Center. Dr. Yahya is a former Fellow of the American Psychoanalytic Association (APsaA) 2017-2018. Besides Psychiatry, Dr. Yahya is a published poet, a writer, and a speaker on multiple Arab media outlets.
