Strategic Advisor to the President of the ICRC

Claude Bruderlein serves as a Strategic Advisor to the President of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) and the Director of the Centre of Competence on Humanitarian Negotiation (CCHN) where he conducts field research on frontline negotiation and mediation in several contexts. He holds faculty appointments at the Harvard Kennedy School of Government as well as Harvard T. H. Chan School of Public Health where he teaches humanitarian law, negotiation and mediation strategies since 2000. Mr. Bruderlein has led and contributed to several humanitarian negotiation processes in Israel/OPT, Yemen, Iran, Afghanistan, Sudan, South Sudan, Myanmar, Sri Lanka and North Korea both with the ICRC and the UN. He contributes to peer reviews on humanitarian negotiation and mediation processes and regularly advises humanitarian organizations on negotiation strategies, in particular the World Food Program (WFP) and the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC).
