Dr. Alaa Qari, dentist and a doctoral resident in Dental Public Health with a concentration in Health Communication and Promotion at Boston University.
She is also a faculty at Umm Al-Qura University in Makkah in the Department of Preventive Dentistry, Division of Dental Public Health. She is an UNLEASH alumni, which is a global innovation lab to work on scalable solutions projects to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the United Nations.
Alaa has worked on different projects with US and international organizations. Projects include developing strategies, designing a website wireframe and an app prototype to engage healthcare providers with the use of telehealth in Massachusetts.
Another project was developing an app that digitizes depression screening forms for mental health patients in Mexico. Alaa’s main goal is to innovate and design new methods to improve our community’s oral and overall health. Her current project is to improve oral health using an innovative model of teledentistry.
Her hobby is iphoneography especially of nature. She also enjoys participating and sharing on social media about different activities related to UX design, education and digital health.
