Leah’s career spans thirty-five years working in human services in Australia primarily, as well as numerous other countries. Having started her career in local community development and advocacy, including with people with disabilities and refugees and migrants, Leah eventually joined the Queensland State Department of Housing, where she contributed to development of a suite of new policies associated with innovative, accessible, affordable and social housing models. As an officer for 22 years in the Australian Department of Immigration, Leah provided leadership to a range of teams involved in migration, asylum seeker and integration policy and program design and implementation, including as Chief Migration Officer in Berlin – managing the Australian migration program from north-western Europe and Israel, and Principal Migration Officer in Santiago de Chile – managing the Australian migration program from Latin America. While on sabbatical from the Australian Department of Immigration in 2016-2017, Leah also contributed to the drafting of UNHCR policy on complementary pathways to protection. Through her UNHCR role, Leah met the founders of Talent Beyond Boundaries, an NGO with the mission of opening international employment pathways for skilled refugees to fill talent gaps. Leah recently joined TBB as International Relations Director.
