On behalf of the Arab Conference at Harvard Planning Committee and the Harvard Arab Alumni Association, we are excited to welcome you to the eleventh annual Arab Conference at Harvard, entitled Arab Visionaries: Claiming Tomorrow. The conference will be held on Harvard University’s campus from November 9-12, 2017.
As always, we aim to engage in constructive, innovative, and informative debates and dialogue about the Arab world. In doing so, we hope to bridge the gap between its rich history and promising future. The theme of this year’s conference will be “Claiming Tomorrow”. With this theme, we aim to combat discriminatory and reductive imagination surrounding the region that diminishes it to a geography of violence and failure. We intend to highlight the diversity and resilience of our region, focusing on the multitude of experiences and individual pioneers from North Africa and the Sudan, to the Levant and the Arabian Peninsula and various locales in the diaspora.
We believe it is our responsibility to promote a forward-looking view of the region and that it is our imperative to seek innovative ways to effectively bridge the political, economic, and social gaps that have divided the region for far too long. The 2017 rendition of the Arab Conference at Harvard will seek to promote unity among Arab and global communities and showcase the inspiring men and women who work towards achieving that end. In doing so, the Arab Conference at Harvard will simultaneously showcase the Arab people’s ingenuity, commitment, and resilience.
Most prominently, our conference will celebrate the Arab world’s achievements while dispatching a call to action for its participants to translate diverse ideas into concrete solutions, in hopes of a shared and vibrant future for the region and the world at-large. We sincerely believe that your participation will inspire and engage other attendees.
We look forward to seeing you in November!
